This is just a quick post to share a great find with you. One way to get free music on our Zune is by listening to online radio stations. But that means having access to WiFi! And that means its no longer free unless we can hook into free WiFi hot spots.

Well, we have found a great resource which provides a list of free WiFi spots from all around the world.  And in the USA, the free WiFi hot spots sites are listed by city. In New York, for example, wififreespot  list hundreds of hot spots, with address (and even phone numbers). It would be great if they showed the hot spots on an  interactive map, but its still a great resource!

The latest version of Flash, 10.1 will be usable on  Windows Mobile. This is exciting news , as it probably means that Zune HD will soon also have it! (HD Flash on the Zune HD would be outa sight!)

And guess what? It WON’T be on the  iPhone/iPod Touch - in fact, they will be the only platform that Flash 10.1 will not work on (no prizes for guessing why!)

We will let you know as soon as we find out if Flash 10.1 on Windows Mobile will mean we will also be able to use Flash 10.1 on the Zune HD! Fantastic if it does - and will mean a serve of the finger to Apple!!

The recent preview weekend at Best Buy gave those who went some unexpected insider information. It looks as if the new Zune touch will also offer apps!

Now when you think about the fact that Apple are currently celebrating the billionth app download, its not really surprising that Microsoft would realize that the market has spoken - clearly and loudly applauding the whole app revolution!

All the same, they have not been publicizing this feature.  In fact it was only discovered by accident - as this amateur video captures:

Our last post discussed the new Zune HD and what it has going for it. (plus where you can buy it at a discount) But it really has to be seen to be appreciated! So do check out this demo video - taken at recent the Best Buy reveal.

And the bad news is that Microsoft are discontinuing all previous Zune models!

So the next Zune you get WILL be this one!  LOL!

Cnet has just done a review to find out which of MP3 players are best suited for podcasts and concluded that Zune was the best!

A fantastic podcast option, the Zune even ekes past the iPod for the top spot. The software is excellent for podcasts:

What Cnet liked about the Zune was its ability to allow us to manage the number of episodes we want to sync to our Zune and the fact that we can unsubscribe from podcasts directly from our Zune. And they were looking for the ability of players to provide features such as Zune’s accelerated fast forwarding and the passive bookmarking option which automatically remembers the spot we are at in each podcast.

These features, say Cnet, make Zune the best MP3 player for listening to podcasts.

We have previously featured several excellent podcast sources - both audio and video - on Wowzune. So if you haven’t yet discovered the wonderful world of podcasts, maybe this Cnet review will motivate you to give it a try!

Want some more great free music? This time its not just a free trial (still, we reckon 25 free songs was worth getting!). But, with a small amount of time and by following our tutorial, you can begin downloading a whole stack of great music.

You can listen to this sample to get you motivated (yep, its an hour of great music - for free! - it takes a few secs to load, so be patient - its well worth it!)

Now, this may not be the kind of music that rocks your world (we got hooked after we covered the Latin Grammys last November) - but you can check out Wizzard to see if they have the music you like. If they do, you are going to have to come back here to find out how to get it onto your Zune (unless you are happy using iTunes - which we like to avoid)

But, before we go through that tutorial, we would like to show you how to find more Wizzard music than you can find from the above link. Just go to your Google browser and click the “advanced search” option. Then type Music into “all these words” and the wizzard.tv into “Search within a site or domain”. Then click the advanced search button. You now have over 400 results to look through - much more than is listed for “This month’s top music shows”!

OK - how to get this great music onto our Zune? Well, you can do it by using Juice! Its a great little tool that lets us download music onto our PC - and from there its an easy matter to load to our Zune. How to get Juice and download music to it is well explained elsewhere. You can get the URL feed for Ritmo Latino from here. Once you have downloaded the music you can find it in “my Received podcasts”:

Now all you have to do to is right click the file and select “Play with Zune”. (this will open the Zune player. You can then load the music to your Zune)
